Extent of Environmental Law Teaching
(Preliminary Findings)
Among the 14 DMCs, Philippines has enacted good laws to protect the country’s environment and natural resources since about 4 decades ago. But environmental law was previously an elective subject and it has only been a compulsory subject at law schools since 2011, hence not too many professors have been teaching it. Of 105 law schools in the Philippines, about 30 of them offer environmental law within the basic law degree. Currently, there are about 20 scholars involved in teaching environmental law.
